By popular demand, Neisa is offering a workshop on candle dancing!  We'll cover everything you need to know to start safely exploring fire as a dance prop, including how to find and prepare your candle supplies, Neisa's "Candle Commandments," arm, hand and wrist warm ups, candle moves and combinations, and a demonstration candle choreography. No previous candle dancing experience is necessary.

More Information: Please bring a pair of short metal taper candle holders if possible.  Please do not bring glass cup style holders (such as for votives).  If you do not have any candles, you may also practice with a pair of small butter tubs, or learn the movements now and add candles late (I will have at least one extra set people can try out).  For safety reasons, we will not be lighting the candles during class.

You can often find candles at craft stores, antique malls, or thrift stores.  Here is an example of one style of candle holders from Amazon. The candle holders should be short and hold a 7/8" candle (as opposed to a 1/2", smaller candle). A 3-4 inch diameter base is generally ideal, but you can go slightly smaller or slightly larger depending on the size of your hand.   You can use two different style candle holders if they are similar and of approximately the same size.
